National Scaffolding Week- 26th-30th September
This week (26th-30th September) is National Scaffolding Week- a week created to shine a light on the range of career options, skills training and projects within the scaffolding and access sector to inspire a generation to take up a role within this dynamic area of construction.
Scaffolding is worth an annual value of £2.86bn to the UK economy and provides jobs for 34,000 UK scaffolding operatives at over 6000 UK scaffolding companies.
As part of National Scaffolding Week, #ScaffStars have been nominated- including our very own Trainee Scaffolder Paige Pickering!
Paige was nominated by the team at Powertherm for her hard work, being happy to get involved where needed and for being a great ambassador for women in the industry.
Mick Smith, Scaffolding Contracts Manager at Powertherm said: “I was part of the team that interviewed Paige for her role and can honestly say that she was by far the best candidate. From my part there was always going to be a slight risk how Paige would fit in but she has done brilliantly and gets on great with fellow workers and clients alike. Apart from completing her Part 1 scaffolding card Paige has also completed her confined space & safety passport & is a qualified first aider. Paige has also passed the competent person course at a local power station we are working on and is now authorized to take out work permits. The plan was to train someone from trainee to advance Scaffolder then onto supervisor, if Paige carries on as she has been then I can see no problems at all.”
As a company, we are really proud of Paige and how willing she is to learn and get involved with new things. Paige has a great career ahead of her.
